Summary
At the heart of Lorraine, Nancy exhibits multiple, enthralling facets. The city was built on marshes one thousand years ago and has attracted light ever since. It did so from the 11th to the 17th century with the Dukes of Lorraine, then from 1737 to 1766 during the realm of King Stanislas, a century go through the prolific artistic work of the Nancy School of Art, and finally today, thanks to the optimal management of its vast heritage. The artful lighting up of its monuments, the treasures housed by its museums, the sheer pleasure derived from a walk through the old city and the energy displayed by its universities and its economic hub, all concur to make Nancy a city of art offering its residents excellent living conditions.
Patrice Greff, the author
Patrice Greff, who was born in Nancy in January 1950, is deeply attached to Lorraine and has a pa
ssion for photos. He possesses a picture bank about the region in which thousands of constantly updated pictures are included. He is the president of the association Une page à l’Autre. The goal of this association is to promote knowledge about Lorraine and its discovery through books and the written word. Since its foundation Une page à l’Autre has published seven works, all of them dealing with issues of regional interest. Patrice Greff has collaborated on several of these works, particularly on « Lorraine, pays et paysages », published at Editions Gérard Louis, and there is no lack of projects.

Im Herzen Lothringens gelegen, zeigt sich Nancy unter mannigfaltigen und faszinierenden Aspekten. Diese, vor tausend Jahren aus dem Moor hervorgegangene Stadt, übte schon immer eine Anziehungskraft auf das Licht aus : Vom XI. bis XVII. Jahrhundert mit den Herzögen von Lothringen, von 1737 bis 1766 unter der Herrschaft des guten Königs Stanislaus, vor hundert Jahren durch die Künstler der Jugendstilbewegung Ecole de Nancy und heute durch die Bewahrung ihres immensen Erbgutes. Die kunstvolle Beleuchtung ihrer Gebäude und Denkmäler, die Schätze ihrer Museen, die historische Altstadt und die Dynamik durch ihre Universitäten, sowie ihr Wirtschaftspool, haben Nancy zu einer Stadt der Kunst und des angenehmen Lebens gemacht.
Patrice Greff, Der Autor
Patrice Greff wurde im Januar 1950 in Nancy geboren, ist Lothringen zutiefst verbunden und begeistert sich für Fotografien. Er besitzt eine Bilderbank über die Region, die Tausende ständig aktualisierter Bilder umfasst.
Er ist Präsident des Vereins Une page à l’Autre, der es sich zum Ziel gesetzt hat, das Wissen über Lothringen und die Erkundung der Region durch das Buch und das geschriebene Wort zu fördern.
Seit seiner Gründung hat Une page à l’Autre sieben Werke veröffentlicht, denen allen gemeinsam ihr regionaler Bezug ist. Patrice Greff hat an mehreren von ihnen mitgearbeitet, insbesondere an « Lorraine, pays et paysages », erschienen bei Editions Gérard Louis, und an Projekten herrscht kein Mangel.

Le livre en quelques mots...
